REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES -Draft

August 5, 2024

ATTENDANCE

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order on August 5, 2024 at 7:01 p.m. at Countryside Fire Station #1, 801 S. Midlothian Road, Mundelein, Illinois 60060 by President Mike Davenport.

MINUTES FOR APPROVAL

Larry Bakirtjy moved that the minutes from the Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors on July 1, 2024 be approved as corrected. Chris Shifley seconded the motion. Unanimously approved.

HOMEOWNER FORUM

Nathan Wysocki reported ongoing drainage issues following the completion of the (Old) Forest Lane road work and paving project last year. They indicated that excessive water is flowing toward their property from the road, potentially due to incorrect grading or runoff from homes on the west side of (Old) Forest Lane (Fairview Drive addresses). Mr. Wysocki stated he has already discussed this problem with Fremont County Highway Supervisor Alicia Dodd. Mike Davenport will also follow up with Supervisor Dodd to address the issue.

President of West Shoreland Corporation, Catherine Shannon, requested that WSPC solicit bids for landscaping work in the parks and beaches that WSPC shares expenses with West Shoreland. Ms. Shannon also requested an in-person review of the surveys that include shared parks and beaches.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Mike Davenport gave an update on the generator project. A new temporary contract has been signed with Gewalt Hamilton Associates to manage the generator project. The project is moving forward, is currently under-budget, and expected to be completed by the end of November. Please contact Director Mike Davenport for additional details.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Fred Aichele presented theTreasurer’s Report for 7/01/2024 – 7/31/2024. Minaxi Tailor moved and Ben Arditti seconded that the Treasurer’s Report be approved as submitted. Unanimously approved.

  • Working on correcting Groot billing error.
  • Submitted paperwork to update property address error.
  • Working on correcting phone bill issue.
  • Worked with GoDaddy on email transfer to new server.
  • Minaxi Tailor and Rose Brisske to review Block 2 beach improvement expenses.

REVIEW OF TASKS LIST

Review and discussion of the Board and Officers Task List.

OLD BUSINESS

Some email servers have been marking some WSP outgoing emails as “undeliverable”. Some people do not receive some of the emails that are sent out. Please add [email protected] to your email contact list to help ensure you get WSP emails.

Ben Arditti presented the first draft of the 2024 Source Water Protection Plan for review. This draft aligns with the requirements outlined in 35 Ill. Adm. Code Part 604 Subpart C: Source Water Protection Plan (July 25, 2024). Thank you to Director Ben Arditti for leading this project, and to President of West Shoreland Corporation, Catherine Shannon, for her guidance in drafting the plan. Mr. Arditti will collaborate with the newly appointed WSP Water Commissioner and board members to address any necessary revisions. The report will be reviewed by the WSPC board, and the final draft will be submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) for approval. Please contact Director Ben Arditti for additional details.

Ben Arditti will schedule the demonstration of management software being considered for use by WSPC Board and officers.

Larry Bakirtjy moved that the meeting be adjourned. Ben Arditti seconded the motion. Unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:26 p.m.

It is recommended that pedestrians walking at night or dusk/dawn should wear reflective clothing and have a flashlight or light-up leash for their dog. The NHTSA recommends the following safety tip for walking in a neighborhood without sidewalks such as WSP and West Shoreland: Pedestrians should walk FACING traffic and as far away from traffic as possible.  https://www.nhtsa.gov/road-safety/pedestrian-safety (Bicycles ride along WITH traffic.) Dog owners are also reminded to please obey leash laws and to always pick-up after your dog.
