MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order on September 11, 2017 at 7:02 p.m. at Countryside Fire Station #1, 801 S. Midlothian Rd., Mundelein, Illinois 60060 by President, James Melledy.
MINUTES FOR APPROVAL
Sharon Zink moved and Nicki Sullivan seconded that the minutes from the Board of Directors Meeting of August 7, 2017 be approved as presented. Unanimously approved by Directors James Melledy, Cheryl Moss, Nicki Sullivan, and Sharon Zink.
HOMEOWNER FORUM – PUBLIC COMMENT
Cheryl Moss reported that seawall dirt on the north side of the channel has been eroding and washing away in some areas. Jim Moss has filled the eroded areas with rocks and gravel (at no cost to WSPC) to help slow further erosion and to brace the seawall. The seawall will be examined to determine the extent of the erosion and damage and to determine if additional repairs are needed.
Nicki Sullivan reported that she has exchanged emails with a potential new resident who had several questions regarding trees, the channel, fences, and building permits.
James Melledy presented an email from a resident expressing his displeasure regarding the recent paving of the block I beach road by Fremont Township.
WSP members are reminded that various issues affecting the community are discussed at length during the regularly scheduled monthly board meetings. Many issues are discussed over the span of several months of meetings before there is action regarding the issue. The time to express questions and concerns for issues affecting our community is at these monthly meetings. Meetings are open to all members. The minutes of the meetings are distributed to all residents who have subscribed to receive email notifications from the WSPC, and the minutes are posted on the WSPC website. The WSPC Board of Directors are volunteers who do their best to represent the opinions and desires of the members they represent and strive to make themselves available for discussion with WSPC members. The WSPC Board encourages members to attend the monthly meetings and to make themselves available for committees, and to volunteer for positions as they come available.
Fred Aichele reported that he had been contacted by the Diamond Lake Preservation Alliance with a request for property information.
Fred Aichele presented the Treasurer’s Report for 08/01/2017 – 08/31/2017. Nicki Sullivan moved and Cheryl Moss seconded that the Treasurer’s Report be approved as submitted. Unanimously approved.
There was a review and discussion of delinquent accounts.
Fred Aichele reported that the distribution of funds held in escrow for the Highland Terrace Relocation Project will occur once the necessary legal documents are completed.
The WSP Board of Directors would like to formally thank Sharon Zink for personally distributing the August 2017 West Shore Park Homeowner Directory to all residents in the community. Extra copies of the directory have been distributed between James Melledy, Dan Prezell and Marilee C.C. Rusiniak.
BLOCK 1 BEACH
The block 1 beach road was paved by Fremont Township to help stop further erosion of the crushed limestone path and mulch path during heavy rain events, and to help prevent the fine stones and mulch from being washed into the lake. The paving was done at no cost to WSPC. The possibility of the paving was discussed between representatives of Fremont Township and WSPC Directors and was also discussed at length during the July and August regularly scheduled WSPC monthly board meetings. It was the consensus of the board members present during those meetings that the paving of the block 1 beach road was a distinct possibility and that all board members present were in agreement to support the recommendation to pave the path if it was suggested by Fremont Township.
REMINDER: Dogs are NOT allowed on the beaches. Leashed dogs may be on the PARK adjacent to the Block 1 Beach. Please keep dogs off the sand and out of the swimming areas and always clean up after your pet!
James Melledy reported for Brett Laureys that the water tank bids are due Friday, September 15, 2017. It will take 2-3 weeks for the bids to be reviewed by the engineers. It is projected to have the bid awarded by the October 2, 2017 Regularly Scheduled WSP Monthly Board Meeting.
Trees along the well tank access road and dead trees on Woodbine will be trimmed or removed as necessary.
TAYLOR LAKE COURT
The license agreements have been mailed to the homeowners who own property on Taylor Lake Court that is adjacent to property owned by WSPC. WSPC is currently waiting for a response before moving to the next step in securing the license agreements.
The Board of Directors would like to thank Sharon Zink for her follow through in ensuring that the repairs for the damaged north pillar were completed. The cost of the repairs has been covered by the party that damaged the pillar. Trimming and landscaping around both pillars at the north entrance of WSP was requested.
Commissioners need to submit their first drafts of budget needs and requests for the next fiscal year. Budget planning is now underway and discussions will begin at the meeting on November 16, 2017.
Sharon Zink moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Cheryl Moss. Unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:29 p.m.
