MINUTES FOR APPROVAL

The minutes from the April 3, 2017 meeting were not completed. They will be presented for approval at the June 5, 2017 meeting.

HOMEOWNER FORUM – PUBLIC COMMENT

West Shoreland Resident Ralph Dillon addressed the WSPC Board and members present regarding his concerns about the possible development of a truck stop on the vacant property on the corner of Midlothian Road and 60/83, across from the Graham gas station. Please note that these are Mr. Dillon’s personal opinions and they do not represent the opinion or stance of the WSPC board.

Mr. Dillon expressed his concern regarding the possibility of the above mentioned land being developed into a 3.6 acre convenience store and restaurant. Mr. Dillon stated that a large development could have a negative impact for residents and home values in West Shoreland and West Shore Park. His concerns include poor air quality as a result from more cars and large trucks parking and idling nearby, polluted water run-off from the extra traffic contaminating the nearby streams and running into Diamond Lake, and the increase in traffic and large truck congestion.

Mr. Dillon requested that residents of West Shore Park look into the possibility of this development and bring their concerns to the Village of Mundelein.

CORRESPONDENCE

Block 2 Shoreline Project

Chris Cutro and John Lohrmann addressed their concern regarding the erosion of the waterfront north of the block 2 beach. They presented possible solutions to improving the common area and preventing further erosion. Currently it is not in the budget for a large Block 2 shoreline restoration project. Mr. Curto and Mr. Lohrmann will solicit bids and gather quotes for different repair options and will put together a proposal to present to the WSPC board for future consideration.

ComEd Poles

Several old utility poles have been left in place after new utility poles have been installed. At least two old utility poles are rotting and some have pieces of wire still attached. James Melledy will contact Diana O’Kelly and Bill Grinnell of Fremont Township for assistance in identifying which utility company the poles belong to and to request the utility company or Fremont Township remove the old poles.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Fred Aichele presented the Treasurer’s Report for 04/01/2017 – 04/30/2017. Sharon Zink moved and Cheryl Moss seconded that the Treasurer’s Report be approved as submitted. Unanimously approved.

COMMISSIONERS’ REPORTS

Sharon Zink reported for Dan Prezell that the Block 1 piers are tentatively scheduled to be installed on May 6, weather permitting.

Beach clean-up dates have not yet been set and will be announced when scheduled.

Nicki Sullivan reported that according to Fremont Township Highway Commissioner, Bill Grinnell, the Block 1 Beach Road and Circle Drive/Grove Terrace Drainage Project will not be scheduled to begin until after May 6.

NEW BUSINESS

A home owner on Taylor Lake Court is selling the property adjacent to WSPC property and would like formal confirmation from the WSPC for the new owner regarding any restrictions connected to the WSPC property.

Sharon Zink reported that she has received one estimate to complete the repair needed on the pillar that was damaged when it was hit by a car. A second estimate is pending.

ADJOURN

Sharon Zink moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Chris Shifley. Unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:24 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Marilee C.C. Rusiniak, Secretary
