MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order on June 6, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Countryside Fire Station #1, 801 S. Midlothian Rd., Mundelein, Illinois 60060 by President, James Melledy.
MINUTES FOR APPROVAL
Gina Rundall moved and Chris Shifley seconded that the minutes from the Board of Directors Meeting of May 2, 2016 be approved as corrected. Unanimously approved.
HOMEOWNER FORUM
It was reported that a homeowner has installed a fence. The homeowner will be contacted and the fence will be requested to be removed.
It was reported that homeowners near Block 1 Beach will be spraying for mosquitos on their private property and would like permission to treat the area around the Block 1 Beach and Park. Nicki Sullivan will be in contact with the homeowners and request permission from other homeowners near the beach / park for permission.
Nicki Sullivan presented a draft of a letter to be sent regarding fire pits on WSP common property. The WSP Rules and Regulations under Beach Rules and Regulations and Park Rules and Regulations state: No fires (i.e., campfires, leaf burning etc.), littering, glass items, alcoholic beverages, fireworks, or illegal substances.
If you are unsure where personal property ends and WSP Common Property begins, please contact a WSPC board member to help you determine where property lines are located.
It was reported that hypodermic needles have been found floating in the channel and at Miller Park.
If you see a needle – DO NOT PICK IT UP! PLEASE immediately call the Lake County Sherriff’s Office Non-Emergency Line: (847) 377-4000 to report the location of the needle.
Residents are reminded that all guests at the beach and the park must be accompanied by a resident. If you do not recognize someone at the beach or park, please request who they are and who they are with. If the person is not with a resident, inform them that this is private property and they must be accompanied by a homeowner. If the person becomes angry, upset, or refuses to leave, WALK AWAY and call the Lake County Sherriff’s Office Non-Emergency Line: 847-377-4000 to report the trespasser.
A car has been parking in the beach access road at Block 2 Beach. There is no parking in this area. Cars parked there can be ticketed and/or towed.
Nicki Sullivan reported on the estimated cost for muskrat trapping and removal. Some muskrat holes along the Diamond Lake shore line have been filled.
TAYLOR LAKE COURT
Revisions for the Taylor Lake Court Agreement have been completed. The agreement will be submitted to one property owner with additional property owners to be contacted.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Fred Aichele presented the Treasurer’s Report for 05/01/2016 – 05/31/2016. Nicki Sullivan moved and Cheryl Moss seconded that the Treasurer’s Report be approved as submitted. Unanimously approved.
There was a review and discussion of delinquent accounts.
The insurance policy is under review. Clarifications on how piers are covered have been requested.
HIGHLAND TERRACE UPDATE / DISCUSSION
There is no new news to report at this time.
CAPITAL PROJECTS REVIEW
There was a brief review of current capital projects underway and in consideration.
Nicki Sullivan reported that the Diamond Lake Alliance is looking to work with homeowners to obtain grants to help cover costs to install rain gardens. Some grants may cover up to 50% of the projected cost.
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Park Commissioner, Dan Prezell, reported that the Miller Park looks good.
Block 1 Beach seaweed pick-up is going well.
Block 2 Beach seaweed collection and pick-up is to be addressed.
The WSP Board would like to send out a special “thank you” to the beach and park commissioners and all the residents who volunteered their time, energy, money and supplies to beautifying and cleaning up the beaches and parks on the WSP Beach/Park clean-up days and who help maintain the beaches and parks through the year! Thank you for helping make this community great!
ADJOURN
Gina Rundall moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Nicki Sullivan. Unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
