The WSP Board recently met with Lieutenant Ron Cielek and Public Education Coordinator Tony Rodkey of the Countryside Fire Protection District. In West Shore Park, part of unincorporated Lake County, the law states that burning of rubbish, garbage, and construction debris is prohibited. Burning of grass clippings and tree trunks is prohibited except for recreational fires. Burning of other landscape waste on the same property where it was generated is permitted under the following conditions: (1) conducted between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM or sunset, whichever is earlier, Monday thru Friday or between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM or sunset, whichever is earlier, on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays; (2) completely extinguished with no smoke by 8:00 PM or sunset, whichever is earlier; and (3) no closer than 50 feet from a school property line or road centerline and no closer than 25 feet from any building or side property line.
